Welcome to todays diary entry! The night has been pretty awful the boat has been swaying like no bodies and it wasnt too bad for me but i know Beef woke a couple of times and because he is too big now for the cots that they have in the cabins he slept on the bed with his Mum and i had the luxury of a single to myself. Think we were all over by 9pm and we slept till say 8ish. I felt like i could have had another couple of hours. When he woke in the night i had a little top up of anti travel sickness tablets so i think that’s why i had another dose of feeling knackered.

I looked on my phone at our location and you could see that we were over the worst of it now and that we we were just turning the corner by Brest and making our way into the channel and by about 09:00 the boat was feel about a million times better than it was 12 hours ago. Mum was perking up as she went and came for some breakfast with me and once again the food you know on the boats is pretty good. The travel time on this ferry compared the usual Plymouth one was definitely noticeable and this is actually the faster of the Portsmouth ferry. The rumor on the street is that we are not not getting the ferry to Spain again. Mum spent the afternoon looking up different routes to Europe and she has he eye on the Plymouth Roscoff one next time.

It just seemed to drag so much and being used to the Plymouth one which takes about 20 hours and then this one taking nearly 10 hours more is just so boring. So my sweeping generalization of “I’m never driving through France again” may be coming to an end. Once we had turned the corner it wasn’t too bad at all but i guess that is the benefit of taking anti sickness tablets and Lisa didn’t. We made pretty good time and were off the boat and through customs by about 21:30 and the plan was to get back to Northwich tonight so we could have a lie in.

I realised pretty early on that i wasn’t going to be able to make it tonight. That was made worse that he fell asleep in his car seat but then he woke up about an hour later and wasn’t happy about not being in his bed so we pulled over at Bicester so we still managed to make a dent in the journey home. It was even like it was motorways it was the A34 and its quite bendy and 2 lanes and i just couldn’t get into a rhythm. I was just too tired. So straight into a service station and then put the heater on and get my head down and hopefully have a lie in.
