Welcome to todays diary entry! The big day is drawing closer now and i must say that has definitely creeped up on me more than previous years and i think maybe that is because of the weather or because it is is not as in your face as back in the UK. I must say though that the local business whether it be restaurants or cafes of even the Campsite reception go out as much as they can to do festive stuff. For example there is a huge snowman and a santa up by reception here so that is nice of them to do that because really they don’t have to.

We made the decision a few days ago that we were no longer going to go out for dinner and to be honest I’m really happy about that, i think that really Christmas should be a proper Christmas dinner with all the bits and pieces that you would normally have at home. And despite it being considerably hotter than home i think that is partly what makes Christmas so special. Especially me as i love christmas dinners so much, well not only that just food in general. I walked past one of our friends on the site before and they were making cauliflower cheese and since then pretty much all i have thought about it cauliflower cheese. That is on the menu as well on Wednesday.

For someone who is a fussy eater you wouldn’t expect me to like Brussel sprouts but that is one of the things that i absolutely love as well. All the normal veg that you would get in the UK you can get over here. We bought some paxo stuffing and some gravy with us as well in preparation for this day and we have been extremely well disciplined in not using it until this point. The only thing which i am a little worried about is the fact that pork products just are not the same out here.
We all know that everyone’s favorite part of Christmas dinner is the pigs and blankets. Kel tried to get some bacon the other day and it wasn’t great and i bought some sausages from the guy at the charcutier and they just were too bitty and when you cut into them they sort of fell apart a bit. I ate them dont get me wrong but they just were not like the sausages you get back home. They certainly were no Richmond sausage by any stretch of the imagination so im not sure about whether they will make an appearance or not. I doubt it mind and i am coming to terms with that now. First thing i try and do when i get home is to pick up some oatcakes and some sausages and have sausage and cheese oatcakes.
