Diary Entry – 05th September 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Isnt it strange how easily you can wake up when you have something important on or something that you are looking forward to? Like for example when you are due to go on holiday and you have an early alarm set and you are due to go to airport. That is easy to get up and today was a little bit like that to be fair. Me and the Dodge had an alarm set for 05:30 to meet outside the caravan to do our pre setting ritual of walking around the warehouse to see if there were any other bits and pieces needing to go into one of the vehicles.

Me and the Beef

Although a little behind the set schedule of 06:00 we were wagons roll at 06:10 and we had a team diesel fill up just down the road and we were officially fully on the way by about 06:25 i am always mindful that i want to get past Birmingham that is always the bench mark for a successful trip anywhere. Did you get stuck in any traffic on the way? No, good! We did hit a little bit of traffic but nothing to write home about and before you knew it we were on the M5 making our way to Malvern. We did stop and get some coffees as a member of the convoy needed to go to the little boys room. Whilst he was in there i got some Costa Coffees and some baps from Gregs.

In all of the shows we have done this year this did feel a bit different, the first thing i noticed and felt was that this almost felt made for this sort of event. Each traders pitch was marked out and all cordoned off but rather than being a huge field it had roads and then off the roads were the grass trading pitches. As we parked up i noticed that some pitches had electric hook up on there so i sent Mum away to see if it was too late to get EHU and within a minute of her being away there was a golf buggy on the pitch laying out an electric cable. The thing that jumped out at me most is just how accommodating they were to traders.

A little later on in the day someone else was there to get us on to the free Wi-Fi for traders. This is compared to other shows where you have to pay extra for the Wi-Fi and it still doesn’t work. They arrange with us to come and collect our empty boxes and rubbish each day, this is compared to another show we do where we have to take away our own rubbish. So 15+ awnings and we have to take away all the boxes etc. This has been, by a country mile, the most trader friendly show we have done this year. Sometimes traders get treated like 3rd class citizens.
