Diary Entry – 29th August 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Looking back 12 months and looking at where in the world we were. We were stationed in Biscarosse and to be fair it was another one of those places that we really liked and the weather was absolutely not what i was expecting it to be. It was nice in the day but then almost every night was apocalyptic rain and lightning like i have never seen before. It was so so surreal. The only thing was that this was the last time i was in France and to be honest we vowed never to go through France again as the cost of just eating and drinking was incredible.

One of my favorite pictures!

This was all part of the time when we were really tight up on funds and we used to walk to the supermarket with our Outwell Cancun Trolley that we used to put shopping in and walk to the Aldi. It was the most expensive Aldi we have ever seen to this date with the costs of 3 chicken breasts being over £10 and the beer was expensive as well so wasn’t any cheap things about being there. I remember our first night when we arrived on the campsite and we went to the bar being totally unprepared for how expensive the beer was.

Lisa had a couple of glasses of wine and i had 4 beers and it came to over £50 as the beer was over £8 a pint and it wasn’t even a particularly nice pint nothing that i knew the name of either so i used we didn’t stop there much and instead we walked off site towards the lake and found somewhere where it was £8 for a pint of Desperado to feel like i was getting better value for money. The place itself was lovely and at that time of year the campsite was really good value. We booked it through pitch up and it worked out at like £12 a night including the electric and wifi etc.

We tried to put to go and do it directly through the campsite so they didn’t have to pay the Pitch Up commission but the young lad on the counter told me to just book it through through pitch up and i believe later on in the week he got an absolute b*****king from the owner and after that he never really spoke to me again and just blanked me. I think he was the owners sons or something like that he wasn’t treated the same as the others. He just used to stare straight on when he came past in his buggy.

Another thing i remember is they didn’t have any toilet seats on the toilets and in the cubicles you have never seen so many spiders. It was absolutely terrifying.
