Diary Entry – 19th August 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! I always enjoy looking back at what we were doing this time last year and looking back through those memories it is a pleasant remind of just where we have been and come from. We have come so far in the last 12 months both literally and metaphorically and this time last year we had managed to get our motorhome but had some issues with work etc and we were really really struggling and at one point we were in France and we weren’t sure how we were going to get through the next few weeks.

Then we had the tyre debacle and we were really in the mire and then something happened that we have very very rarely spoken about and something we did vow we would never discuss but as i like to do in here is talk about it anyway but without mentioning any names. So we were North of Paris and our tyre needed replaced and they couldn’t just change one for some reason so we needed 2 brand new campervan tyres and it came to about £400 and we couldn’t not get the tyre and then wouldn’t let us just have one so on our already string thin budget we essentially lost the best part of 80% of it. I remember talking about it and we were saying that we may just have to eat less and just whatever it takes to get through it we would and at least we would be together in the sun of the south of France.

There wasn’t anyone else we could turn to so we just looked at each other and thought it will be a tough few weeks but we always manage to get through it. As long the Beef had what he needed we could get through anything.

So as we do with our life we posted on FB and mentioned that we had just spent £400 on new tyres and we got a message from a follower who we didn’t see that much not like some of the more prominent ones but she ultimately said that her Dad had recently passed away and she would like to pay for our tyres. She said she knew how difficult it was for young family and she would like to help out. At first we turned it down and we turned it down several times and she persisted. I called my Mum and asked for her opinion and my Mum said that sometimes people do incredible kind things. Now, we never put anything on the internet bad to try and benefit from it all we have ever done is to pop our story online whether it is good or bad. And sometimes it may look good but underneath it all there has ben some really tough times but i wouldn’t want to experience those tough times with anyone more than these guys.

We have no shame in admitting that in the end we did take that money and it something we always look back on because ultimately that money meant that we could enjoy 3 meals a day and helped us get through one of our most difficult patches. Don’t get me wrong we are not wealthy now but we will hopefully be in a position in 12 months that means we are under less pressure than we were 12 months ago. Hopefully then again in 12 months it will get easier again and then when we travel away then we can hopefully both enjoy a little bit of winter time off proper work.

To that person, if you are reading we will never fully be able to describe how grateful we are for what you did! Thank you so much.
