Diary Entry – 15th August 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! I absolutely definitely feel like i am getting into my rhythm now with this shop malarky, i had a full cohort of staff in the shop and we actually got loads done i had been facing a little bit of resistance but that seems to be fading now and as human we are not particularly great at change and by our very nature we are creatures of habit so all change is difficult but eventually it becomes the new norm and we settle back into routine and new habits.

Our customer service manager enjoying the space we have finally cleared in the shop!

I had spent the last couple of days trying to get the floor clean and tidy and trying to get a bit of a blank canvas to start moving stuff around and tinkering and we finally achieved that today and managed to get it clear. I was in a really really good mood today and was proper fired up. We are planning on moving loads of stuff around awning wise and whilst the Dodge is off i have free reign to do what i think is best. I do truly love this place and this shop and i am loving being able to make a difference and to be to make the changes that i think will improve it.

The only problem being that i need to try and get some drive away awnings up before we get to the end of the season and try and squeeze as much of the year as we can because in theory in October i am going to want to change it round again n put up some more heavy duty awnings. I think that really the shop should be switched round every 3 months really. It is a similar concept as shows really in the sense of you should always be moving stuff around, putting stuff out or just moving it around to a different place. Even if it is the same stuff changing it up can bring a whole new dynamic in there.

So we are a little late in the cycle but if we move it around a bit now and then in middle of October or early October get the caravan awnings out ready for the NEC and the darker colder months where only the hardcore campers are out and about. I would put myself in that category as i have been in my trailer tent over new year and that is peak winter. I used to have 2 heaters on full blast all days and it was still a little bit chilly but it was still great being out at that time. I remember one time in the winter at Blakemere one early December and all the caravans and motorhomes had an inch of frost on them but my trailer tent had nothing and was dry as a bone as the heaters were blaring!
