Diary Entry – 16th May 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! And then just like that we find ourselves on a another show set up! This show is only being manned by me and the Dodge so i was grateful for the support we got from Camptech and from Outdoor Revolution for some support setting up. We had been forecast a little rain today but that certainly didn’t turn up there were a few little spots every now and then but not what was forecast and wow it was bloody warm. We got to site around about 12 noon and i was surprised at how many caravans were already on site. I was even more surprised at how many motorhomes there were. Which was a bit of a worry as we had only brough caravan awnings with us.

Very very old fashioned but absolutely brilliant!

We had brought quite a lot of stuff with us, more stuff than could fit in the van so i ended up putting some stuff in my motorhome as well so by the time we had emptied out the Moho and parked up Stephen (Camptech) and Jof (Outdoor Revolution) turned up and they set about putting there own awnings up either side of the shop whilst we emptied the van and got the marquee up. There was going to be 8 awnings and the shop up which compared t last week in Nottingham was tony but if you compare the resource we had last week compared to now then it makes for one hell of a pack down.

It was so warm again and it was a case of stopping every 15 minutes to try and take some water on. Every person here seemed to know the Dodge and they would all come over and talk to him about something they had bought once or some work that they had done on there respective Vans. It felt very community like and everyone seemed to pretty much know everyone. We on one side of the grass square where the games would be played over the weekend and there was only another 2 or 3 traders. There was a rumour that the pub was opening early tonight so i had a little walk over there to try and inspect it to see what was going down etc.

Another rumour had been confirmed with my own eyes and it was only £2 a pint but they didn’t do draft lager then only had real ale which to be fair isn’t my cup of tea. They did do some cans of beer but it was only Fosters and Carling and there was no way I was drinking that. So i tried real beer for the first time, it tasted awful, but with each pint it did seem to get nicer and nicer and by the 3rd one it was almost becoming bearable.

Stupidly we never ended p making it back to the shop to finish off and we had been haunted by the “lets go for one pint and then we will come back and finish setting up” and we ended in the bar for most of the evening and we came back to the vans and camp to pack up for the night and to have some fajitas which were made by the Dodges wife Gina/ Jen (dont ask).
