Diary Entry – 14th May 2024

Welcome to todays diary entry! I thought i would use todays diary entry to take you through how i have found my solar since we have got it set up on the motorhome. The difference it has made has been unbelievable. The solar is always something that has held us back before and has meant that we have had to be wired into the Matrix but honestly now we probably would never need electric again. The only thing that it wouldn’t power is the air conditioning and also for Morocco where it is literally a couple of pound a day for the electric we would probably just hook up anyway.

A great shot of the Motorhome on Saturday evening

We left Northwich first thing on Thursday and the battery had been plugged in so should have been fully charged and when we were there i don’t think the level of the battery dropped below 100%. Certainly not that i noticed. The most power hungry thing we have is the diesel heater which sometimes goes on first thing in the morning but when the weather is ok then we don’t even use that. The 12v TV doesn’t use a lot of power. We are still waiting on getting the inverter fitted. That will then i assume use more power as it will be doing an air fryer but because of the size of the solar panels they recharge the batteries so quick.

So even in the day when we are using stuff like the water pump, tv, the main master board etc then we are constantly on float because we are filling them up as fast as I was using the power. The next thing I would like to add is another 12v TV at the front of the motorhome and a 12v sound bar then we are well and truly cooking on gas. Pardon the pun. Then we could in theory be 100% off grid. Not that that particularly excites me or what ever but there is a value in not having to worry about it. It just opens up tons and tons and tons more options

So it has definitely been a well worth while addition to the motorhome and it is something i am so pleased that we did. It just removes another reason why I would want to change this motorhome in a year or 2 but as it stands now with a working shower tray and with that solar we have no real need to change it for the next 3 or 4 years as long as it holds up mechanically which I am confident it will do.
