Welcome to todays diary entry! Do you know sometimes when you really love something but increasingly overtime it gets harder and harder to feel the same way about it. I want to start off with the serious part, I have been coming to Cofton for probably about 10 years now and for some of those years I have been coming for sometimes 8 weeks a year so this is not my first rodeo. There is something in me that still loves the place and it is somewhat unconditional. Although from my own personal experiences and from that of my family it is becoming increasingly difficult.
So we essentially pulled a week from our time in Spain so we could come to Cofton for a week on the way up so that is testament to how much we love it but everything at the moment just feels like such hard work. My sister and brother in law were waiting 2 hours for food, they ordered pizzas which were then burnt to a crisp they then had to queue for god knows how long in 2 different places to get new pizzas. The kitchen had closed by this point so they then needed a refund. This is with 2 children back in the motorhome who were waiting for pizza.

I think there are 2 things that make it even more painful really. The first is like i say, there have been for me and my family so many happy memories here and to struggle to get that same sense of feeling from somewhere. Also, it is one of the more expensive campsites which given the facilities that are here you would expect to pay a little bit more but in summer i think it is upwards of £60+ a night for camping and, AND you have to pay for your own electric. Now, neither of those things i mind as long as i am getting value for money. Cost is irrelevant for me as long as there is value.
A vast majority of the staff here don’t seem happy, they seem glum and that comes across and you can feel it. The good staff all tend to leave in the end because i think it gets them down. The guy that runs the fishing side of things has left, he was brilliant. Another guy called “The Shirt” has left as well and these were some of the people who you would come down here looking forward to seeing again. A prime example, when we arrived here i didn’t feel great because of the crossing (which was fine btw, i don’t think Birra Morettis helped). The last 2 times now when we have got here i have spent the first hour or so going backwards and forwards trying to fix the electric on the pitch. The problem this time was that the pitch booking was in my name and the electric account was in Lisa’s name. Same surname, same address same everything so had to go back up to reception as there was money on the account etc. It just feels like everything is such hard work and the moment there is something that is not quite black and white there is just zero ability from anyone to think outside of the box and fix a problem. The thing is, will I be back? Yes. Although my tolerance for paying such money and not getting the value is wearing thinner and thinner each time. I want to love it here so much but it is getting harder.
