Diary Entry – 01st April 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Happy April Fools Day! I tell you what we got loads of people hook line and sinker with ours. The key is to get the content out before people realise what day it is. To be fair id been planning this for a little while, the secret as well is in the prep to it. You should never just drop it there should always be a bit of a build up to it. I have been thinking about this for a while as everyone loves a bit of an April fool. To be fair i was gotten as well as i was about top post about our April Fool and i started to read a post.

This Geezer Though!

It was a post from Cofton about a new type of accommodation that they were going to start doing which were underwater sleep pods in the carp fishing lakes. The first thing i said to my lady was “oh wow, how cool would this be”. She then reminded me that is was April 1st. To be fair i more gutted than anything else as that would have been so cool to have done that. That is partly the problem with April fools is that a lot of the time the things that are being punted are actually really good ideas.

Our AF was that we were going to go on a trip from Stoke to Singapore but it was through Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan. The weirdest thing of all was that people were saying what an amazing trip it would be. I suppose it depends if they didn’t read all the post and that they just read Stoke to Singapore. The most worrying thing of all is some people who did read and thought that would be a good route to take. Listen i am liberal with routes to get somewhere but that was beyond my realms of risk appetite. The problem is when you watch the route it looks super cool so there was an element of guttedness in it.

Although from sadness green shoots sprout big trees, this got us thinking about road trips and unique road trips that not many people have done before and having watched top gear recently when they were in Mauritania making there way to Dakar in Senegal. That got me looking at the west coast of Africa and wondering could we get to the Gambia and this is something we could do and something that is safe and something no one else has done and really documented it. I would love to do something like that but it would be a culture shock because once you get below the likes of Dakhlar is become considerably less Motorhome friendly.
