Diary Entry – 12th March 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! It is our last full day in the desert and what an experience it has been. I am so so so glad we made the 10 odd hour journey to get here especially for my birthday it is absolutely something i will never forget. So today was. a bit of a funny one because one hand i was sad to be seeing the back of the desert but on the other hand i was looking forward to getting going. The first thing we needed to do was to decide which way home and what we were going to see. We wanted to go and see the fil, studio and Ait Ben Haddou.

Diary entry
That view though…

In the end we decided to swerve then all and we were going to make our way to Marrakech as quick as we could, well a little north of Marrakech as we wanted to go and have a week or so at one of our favourite campsite which is La Relais. It is brilliant there and outside is not as pleasant as other places but certainly inside the campsite is as nice as any we have been too. Even better because it has a bar! Although if i recall it is about 70dhms a bottle of Casabalnce so we are talking Hyatt Regency prices.

I always say language is important and i will be able to officially say we are on the way home! With every mile we drive we will be getting closer to home. We are not coming straight home but Merzouga road wise is the furthest point away from the bustling metropolis of Stoke On Trent. We will be making a dent in 2500 miles to get home. All being well we will be getting to the UK on or around 26th April, 6 months to the day we arrived in Morocco in October which will be quite fitting.

The great thing about La Relais just going back to the previous point is only 6 hours from Tangier Med port so we are not too far at all from Mainland Europe. We usually do a 1 nighter at L’Ocean Bleu and Marrakech is only 3 hours from there. The thing about Morocco and how strongly i feel about it, i don’t think i could ever live here despite me loving it as much as i do because there is only a couple of things that put me off. I hate flying bugs and there can sometimes be quite a lot of flies but also i would get bored of the food it tends to be the same wherever you go so i find that i do get bored after a while. One thing is for sure though i will coming back here in October/ November this year because it is still the absolute number 1 winter destination for sunnny weather!
