Diary Entry – 29th February 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Today has been one hell of a stressful day really and to be honest i don’t know how because on paper we didn’t have a lot to do. I was working as normal but before my shift start we managed to squeeze in our final sea front walk until October/ November. It is hard to not get a bit emotional but the excitement is building now as we are finalising the plans. We are a nightmare for changing plans on routes etc at the last minute but we have a clear idea of which way we want to go. The plan was always to be in Merzouga for my birthday but I don’t think with work and seeing the places i want to see properly that we will get chance to be there for then.

This guy though…

It is payday today so we have paid most of the campsite fees off and will settle the balance tomorrow, we have paid for our Santander ferry to Portsmouth as that is the only one we worry that may be sold out by the time we want to get on it, i am not too worried about the Tangier Med to Algeciras as they are plenty of crossings and we can book that for the next day without any increase in cost. We definitely missed a trick by not taking a bit longer and going to see Carlos and getting an open ended ticket but next time if it takes an extra day it takes an extra day. I think i was probably just too excited and too eager to get here asap hence not waiting it out in Algeciras to get the ticket.

The good news is that both the carpet and the reversing camera but in terms of inconvenience was off the scale. It caused absolute disruption! He turned up a 1pm just as the Beef had gone to sleep and he needed to measure everything out. We had some carpet in places anyway so i needed to rip them up but as i was ripping them up the Beef woke up and started having a meltdown. So he had to go outside in his push chair and at one point we had the carpet guy in there measuring up and the reversing camera guy at the back of the motorhome with me sat in there as well trying to work. It was absolutely manic.

We had been invited by Naim for a curry cooking lesson so Mum went to that and i had my last hour fishing and i was delighted to finally have caught a fish here again. Dazzler as always blanked but i didnt brag about it too much. In fact i was the only person on the rock which was shared by about 7 people in the end i was the only one who caught a fish. The fishing rods were at risk of not making the next part of the trip but it dont quite feel ready to get rig of them yet and i intend to fish considerably more over the next 12 months whilst i am away it is very good for my mental health and i really do enjoy it. A long with being buzzing with catching a fish has done enough to secure there spot.
