Diary Entry – 06th February 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Yesterday was the final piece of the jigsaw for us in regards to us getting 6 months in Morocco and the one that we thought would be the fastest has ended up being the on that has taken the most time to sort out. We took our papers in on the 2nd of January, i remember the day well and it was hot and had walked all the way into banana town. So in theory it has taken over 5 weeks for it to be sorted but we have had ours before some other people who have put there’s in before us but from what i can gather it is based not necessarily when you put it in but when you got into the country as we got here quite early so our first visa free 90 days had expired already.

The most important thing now is tough that it is done and we are 100% legal to be in Morocco until the 2nd May but we wont be here then but doing something for the first time is always the most difficult and we have definitely learnt some serious lessons that we will use when we get back here next time. That did get me thinking though about how difficult it would be to get a 2 year visa and what that would entail and sitting in Morocco for 2 years. That is my project for the next few days to see how it works etc and what we need to do. I could definitely do it as well, but the challenging thing then is the Moho and what we would do with that because that can only stay here for 6 months in a calendar year so it is not all plain sailing.

If we could sort the Moho out i could happily sit int he sun all year and the beauty of that is that on this coast it doesn’t get wildly hot in the summer. It may get to high 20s or low 30s but not like places inland such as Marrakech which get up to about 40 and Merzouga up to about 50. I don’t think my air con could cope with that sort of pressure. But for now 6 months a year is just fine thank you. There is a lot more of this world that i want to get on on see and circumstances at the moment mean that we want to go back to the UK in the Summer.

It was Derren’s birthday this evening so we all went to La Plancha, it was Only Vans, Rabbit and the Horse and the Babbling Brookes and a couple of there friends. We headed on down to the restaurant, i tried to have the beef walk with me all the way there but he gets so easily distracted that he sees something on someone else pitch then he just walks on. He also has a fascination for pebbles and little stones that he also spends a lot of time trying to put in his mouth so we have to watch him like a hawk. I had a Tagine but for desert i had an amazing Biscoff Cheesecake. It was an absolute delight and not a great thing to eat when your on a diet.
