Diary Entry – 22nd February 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Another big step today towards getting the Motorhome desert ready! We probably have 8 nights remaining on this site with a heck a lot of a lot get done. I will start at the beginning. My main worry overnight was worrying about the state of the tyre as i didn’t get it fixed on the day that i had seen the flat. Joe put the fear of god into me by saying don’t let it get ‘flat flat’ so i was stressing then all night so an soon as i woke up i was outside having a look at and to be fair thank god it was in the same condition it was yesterday. When we went for a walk this morning all i could think about was having to drive it Moho with a semi flat tyre into Banana town, then i was worrying thinking well what if there was a central reservation at that bit and then i had to drive further into Banana town to the roundabout and then come straight back on myself to be on the right side of the road.

I was then thinking about the couple of speed bumps i have got to go over and then there is a big drain that is like a speed bump. All of that stress combined made me come up with another idea. Rather than drive into Banana town i would walk down and find the garage and get them to come and get the tyre take it away, repair it and bring it back, if it cost me more money it cost me more money. I didn’t really mind i just wanted it fixed as soon as possible so I can restart looking forward to getting on our road trip. So that is what I did and to be honest i am so relieved I found the tyre place, there wasn’t a central reservation but i am glad i walked it. The guy gave me a lift back up to the campsite came took the tyre away and had it back and refitted within 1 hour. In total including everything it cost £32 which to be fair i was over the moon with.

I took Chris’s electric pump around all of the tyres and filled topped them all up so hopefully now tyres should be good for a few months, certainly at least until i get back to the UK anyway. So that is one thing i am going to put out of my mind now. So in theory, tyres, fridge, engine and oils and window seals should be fine. I know we will always encounter problems but i like to have them to a minimum. Talking of windows Darren has been back around to finish the second coat of sealant o the windows so they should be absolutely bomb proof now. I said to Darren that i want it to be that tight that the motorhome would float.

We only need to have the paint finished off which the Italians next door blackballed, but before we leave we have to do a big supermarket run, another uni prix run, a Souk E Had run and reversing camera refixed so we have loads and loads to do. We have also planned a little goodbye party s as the Brookes are away on the 28th, us on the 1st and then Dazzler and Michelle shortly after that i imagine. Then not too long before we are back into Europe until later this year.
