Strangely enough I have probably had my favourite days of the trip so far. Yes it’s 6 degrees, yes I’ve been caught in 3 different half storms, yes I thought we lost the wallet and do on. I woke up about 08:30 and despite a bit of rain it was nice to see some grey cloud but no water falling from the sky. Whilst Lisa fed him I did a quick scout about and walked a long a man made Beach and around for 5 10 minutes then came back to the camper. After he was fed we decided to walk into Gijón town centre, we just pottered about then after the lost wallet debacle we came back fed the Wee Man then headed out to the aquarium. Now, I’ve been to many an aquarium buy this was special as it was his first time. As a Dad I’m lucky that I get to experience all this type stuff, historically men would work etc and the Mum whilst on maternity would do these bits. But to be here, with these 2, on this trip I am probably the luckiest man on earth.
Gijon must be the fish capital of the world, walked for ages to find a cafe to eat in but all heavily fishy. I’m rather a fussy eater so to see someone cooking fresh squid 4 metres away from me put me well off my Haribo.
I’m still going strong on the shorts front Iv not worn jeans I believe since St Malo. I’m thinking about giving trousers up for good, my Dad always used to wear shorts and I always thought what a maniac, but as with a lot of things you questioned about your parents growing up start to make sense the older you get. I had an amazing comment yesterday from a women who said she had bull read all my diary entries, which is mad when you think about it. Just the ramblings of a 34 year old man from Stoke living in a van driving around Europe. Heading further west tomorrow snd it looks as thought the decision to leave the other site was well justified watching the news earlier looks like they got hit pretty bad. Heading to Santiago de Compostella tomorrow, don’t know what’s there but no doubt rain and hopefully up to double figures!! Speedos at the ready!!
I too read your diary every night & it’s very interesting. Glad to hear you’re having a great time. Take care
I’m glad I’m a useful sleep aid Phil ha ha ha
