Diary Entry – 30th November 2023

Cats are fickle creatures. When we first arrived back here (5 weeks ago tomorrow, how quick has that gone FYI) there were no cats on our pitch. Then after a few days Boris made his way back up to us but then he stopped coming over and was spending more time down the bottom of the campsite. Then we got frequented by Mac, which was Mums choice for a name. Not mine.

After a while Mum started to miss Boris so Mum would wander down with a bowl for him and feed him elsewhere because we think Mac wasn’t a fan of him being on the pitch. It is strange though how different stray cats have such differing personality. As an example Boris is a very very nervous cat as in if you try and stroke him he will swipe at you, as he has me many times. In May time he was coming in the camper lying on the bed and being stroked by us all so something has obviously happened to him. Whether that was when he was attacked as we were leaving previously or since then but he is a very nervous cat. Whereas Mac is the friendliest cat in the world who will sit next to you on the big grey chairs, let you stroke her to death. SO there experiences of people are polar opposites.

After a short while of Boris being fed away from the pitch, he started venturing onto the pitch and Mac despite being unhappy about it Boris just decided to stay with us. Over time they have learnt to live with each other. I wouldn’t say friends but certainly acquaintances and instead of buying cat food for 1 it is now cat food for 2. They get separated whilst feeding because they aren’t that good together but they are quite happy to sit in the sun together within a foot of each other. So who knows maybe a cat romance brewing
