Woke up this morning feeling relieved about the previous day but also excited to get a pitch chosen and get set up properly. We didn’t arrive until 9pm last night so it was getting dark and reception was closed so they let us in and told us go where we want and sort out the details tomorrow. So we made our way down, as soon as it came light I was outside the Moho looking at where the sun comes up, the shade, the trees, how much sun light will we get etc. Looking at other pitches to see the direction of the sun etc. Picking a pitch is no easy task, especially with Lisa who is anti-sun and anti heat.
I walked up about 09:30 to check in etc and pay for the previous night. When i got there and explained they asked me to come back in an hour or so they could deal with the departures as there are static caravans on site, sop they needed to check those guys out. I walked up about 11am and spoke to reception and had one of the more peculiar interactions with a member of staff that i had had before. I asked the guy “i want to stay for 33 nights, what is the best price for the pitch, electric and wifi”. He advised me £799 euros, i advised him it was cheaper on Pitch Up and i thought it would be easier to get that through them so they don’t pay the Pitch Up commission.
The other guy behind the counter said “if it is cheaper with Pitch, book through pitch up” i found this quite bizarre and mentioned to Lisa how weird it was. So, i booked through Pitch up for £531 whilst we were walking to the Intermarche. Wow, France i s expensive, but like funny things are stupid money. Like Potatoes, garlic, all stupid money. We ended up spending like £140 on not a great deal. Most importantly we bought some beer as on site it is £8 a pint and that is not conducive with being thrifty. Once we were back i tried to check in with my Pitch up booking number and spoke to a woman who was annoyed that id been told to book through pitch up.
We went for a walk outside the campsite and to the lake and this is one beautiful place. No doubt you will be bombarded by pictures and videos over the coming weeks.
