Wow, aren’t we lucky. Little did we know we had this going on with our tyre. Let me start at the beginning…. So we woke this morning on our park up which is basically a service station with spaces for Moho and water disposal. I hardly slept worrying about the tyre situation. As soon as i woke i checked the PSI and it had dropped to 40 from 76. So the bad news is that there is a problem. The saving grace was that it is leaking slowly so whilst getting a coffee and pan au chocolate i looked at local garages. The nearest one was 11 miles away. So the plan was to fill up with air again and set off but going super slow to try and get there without having to top the air up again.
The main worry for me was that of the 11 miles to the place 6 odd miles of that were on this main motorway. It is safe to say i was absolutely bricking it. Nut we had no choice, our breakdown cover had lapsed and we don’t really have the money for call outs etc. So i started the engine up and got to 40mph in around 30 seconds there was no rush from us. I was shaking i was that nervous. The worst part was i was looking at the lay bys and thinking if i lose control here i there were no metal barriers up so i would have been half way into some mans field. Every worse case scenario went through my head during that first 6 miles but as soon i got to our slip road i pulled over and checked how inflated they were and they looked ok so that put my mind at ease a bit. A slow and steady potter for the remaining miles and we got there. Safely in 1 piece. Thank god.
Once we go to the garage and explained about the tyre he took it off the moho and showed us the problem. He advised probably due to poor quality tyre or pot hole. What is funny is that when pulled over last night we should have driven for another 80 mile. But i could just sense that something wasn’t right. It may sound extreme but if that had of blown out we could have crashed or anything even worse it could have been deadly. We are so so so lucky that we accidentally caught it early and got tot he garage in time. Because they replaced one they needed to do both tyres, they didn’t have any budget tyres in either so it was 2 Continental Tyres for £400. Not in the budget for the month but you cannot put a price on safety.
