Hayling Island is an interesting place. It has a population of 36,000 but everyone seems to know everyone. Ness and Gee who have only lived there for 4 years know every man and his dog. It does feel a little bit like Eastenders. Gee insisted on taking us to a cafe where they go “Up The Creek” It is a proper greasy spoon cafe and the characters that run are absolutely mental. Literally mental. Honestly, mental.
I was a bit miffed, i had maybe 3 or 4 pints last night and a couple of cans but i woke up this morning with a bit of a head ache. It serves me right for not having 8 pints!! That makes me so frustrated when i get a hang over from not drinking enough. Anyway, after breakfast i felt like something sweet so we got into Gee’s car and headed to the Ice cream parlour which was a bit further down the road. Before we went in there Gee pointed out Bar 18 and he said that they pull a mean Peroni in there so i thought we should go in for 1. 1 turned into a few and we left about 5pm having never had ice cream.
It is the Gestapo’s birthday tomorrow, but we have agreed that she is going to go back in age until we meet in the middle. So tomorrow she is 41, and we have an afternoon tea planned which was kindly arranged by Ness. It has been so good to come and see these guys, i dont half miss me wing man! He was a bit like me travel Dad and it was nice to have a bit of male company and we could just be away from our partners a bit. It can be a bit lonely when you are on the road for a long time without other company.
