Diary Entry – 19th May 2023

That was a long day, its about midnight here and we are now parked up on another free park up which is basically a service station. SOmewhere in mid France. I am absolutely shattered already i was going to set an alarm for about 6 or 7 tomorrow but there is no way. The plan will be wake up when i wake up (when Rory wakes up) then pack straight up and get on the road. The drive to Calais is about 6 hours so plenty of driving to do. Before Calais let alone the 240 miles the other side of the channel.

In my mind the way I’m breaking it up is to get to Calais and then hopefully by the time we get there get on the next Chunnel and then the novelty of being the other side will get me through. Seeing the white cliffs, the green grass and that. It will be nice to be back, it would be a lie to say i wasn’t excited to be going back for it bit. However, when you hear people that do VanLife or live full time on the road you hear them talk about the wanting “to no get stuck back home” and that is a real feeling. It is difficult to explain but neither of us want to stay back in the UK.

We spoke about how important it is to get the caravan sold as quickly as we can so we have no choice. Having spent the last 5 months in a SWB Transit and then getting back to our Swift Elegance 650 with a fixed isalnd bed and all the home comforts. I dont want to get comfortable so the plan is to get rid of the caravan as soon as. Even if we have to stay in the camper van for the next few months until we find the right Motorhome. But we are clear with the plan, be back for June to try and sell everything. Then July be gone to the NC500, Lisa wants to be in Mallaig for her birthday. SO if that is what she wants then that is what she shall have…
