I think Chicago is called the Windy City but i bet Tarifa would beat it, easy. It is still blowing an absolute hooley. We have decided that we are going to go into the town of Tarifa today and see what is about and go to the supermarket. So we packed down the pop top, we love having the big awning up as it means we can just dump everything in there and then it is a 2 minute job getting the roof down. The drive is about 10 minutes so nothing to extreme. The town is a bit like Newquay in the sense that it is just focussed around the water sports, this one is kite surfing. I have never seen anything like it before, some of these guys end up about 50 foot up in the air. It was so cool to see. It was brilliant. I didnt realise that Tarifa is a port city as well and do excursions into Morocco for the day. 4 nights left for us before we go to Morocco, we have decided to do a video everyday whilst we are there and do a written diary entry as well as a video diary entry.
It took an age to find a parking space, as you can imagine being a Sunday, what must be optimal kite surfing conditions it was very busy. We were starving and decided to go and get something to eat and we went into a beach bar, i decided that i would order the food and not tell Lisa and it could be a surprise. The starters were minging, i thought it was like a little bread board however it was 2 bowls of cold tomato soup. With a bit of chopped salad on the side. It is safe to say that we wont be trying this again. I ordered Chateau Briand for our main. WOW! It was very very good, it was probably the best main meal we have had since we have been away. It came in like this red wine sauce gravy stuff, proper home made chips, artichoke and asparagus. It was unbelievable. Just an amazing meal.
The wind eased up this afternoon and despite being windy still compared to what we have been sitting in was a welcome rest. Until about 10 minutes ago and then all of sudden it starts going wild again. It is also 15 degrees and 22:10 here so it is the first couple of really warm nights. Had a reality check with Morocco earlier, on the Atlantic coast it is 1200 miles!! That it to get to the southern point of the country Tarfaya. So in theory driving from Tangier to Tarfaya. I like the sound of that, has a nice ring. I may name the trip that. So we could easily be looking at 3000 miles in Morocco, all of a sudden a month doesn’t sound anywhere near enough. That works out at 100 miles a day average over a full 30 days. That doesn’t sound realistic. That is just sticking to the coast not even getting into Marrakech, Fez or Oursatrte. We definitely need to plan this properly.
