This was it! The big day!! The day that we had been waiting for!! The day when Dad was off work and Mum was working. So that meant DADDY DAY CARE!! Mum started work at 1pm today so we had a nice chilled morning. I wanted to try and be organised as possible making sure i had everything i was going to need for the day. I even made a list, my plan of attack was to wait for him to fall asleep for his morning nap and then get everything ready. I wasn’t sure at first whether to take the push chair or his Outwell Transporter. I decided though that because my plan was to do a big walk then go to the lake beach that push chair would perhaps to better so he could sleep first.
As the clock struck 2, we had had our dinner. The Beef was strapped into this push chair and I have everything that i was planning on using for the day. I’ll tell you one thing I always make Lisa do and i don’t know why I seem unable to do it myself, is put sun cream on the Beef. I am always absolutely terrified of missing somewhere and him getting really badly burnt. That is a job i don’t feel qualified to do, it just gives me the fear.
We walked for about 5k and the Beef was asleep in his push chair and i sat on a bench in the shade and have a peaceful 30 minutes until he woke up. I walked down to the lakeside beach and it is really sandy so i had to drag the push chair over the sand to get a decent spot. The Beef sat nicely and watch as i set up his beach tent and put him in it in the shade. He then proceeded to have an absolute meltdown mainly in part because he had a dirty nappy. Changed him and seemed to settle a little bit, next was to try and tackle the water. When we were in Morocco he hated the water and he has done well in the swimming pools at Cofton, Luxembourg and here. He hated the sea most and i think that was because of the temperature of it. He didn’t like the lake either initially but i just bounced him up and down and dipped his toes in it, then a bit more and a bit more. He started to settle, so we sat on the waters edge on the sand and we was playing in the wet sand and as the waves occasionally crashed over his feet he was well accustomed to it and then spent the next 15 minutes trying to drag himself into the sea and eat sand. We spent about 20 minutes playing by the edge of the water but i was worried about how much sin we had so i placed him back in his push chair in the shade whilst i packed up.
I couldn’t pack the pop up tent away despite doing a video on how to pack it away in 30 seconds. All my clothes were sandy, his clothes were sandy. The whole thing was just a bit of a nightmare. I’m not coming the beach on my own again, it is just way too much hassle. I should have gone the swimming pool, i had a nice day don’t get me wrong but the beach is a 2 person job for sure.
I dragged all the stuff back and threw him in his bath bucket to get him clean. I was absolutely knackered.
