We only left Gibraltar yesterday and are already on to our second 3 hour or so stint to take us closer to home. By the time we get to Salamanca we’ll be half way up Spain already! We are heading to a campsite just outside Salamanca, on the recommendation of someone we met at this stop over (we’re on a services station an hour north of Seville). The services stop over was actually a really good park up. There was an onsite restaurant, shop, some stalls that did sweet treats like milkshakes and donuts, and the area for motorhomes was very quiet. When we went to sleep there was only us (plus the lorries) and when we woke there was about another 3 or 4 motorhomes parked up. The only downside was it was a bit noisy with traffic/trucks, but to be expected and I would still stop over here again.
We were originally doing another free park up just off the motorway outside Salamanca, but there was an older chap who was on the way down Spain, and had just came from a campsite in Salamanca and he highly recommended it. It was only 7 minutes extra driving from the original stop we’d planned. We checked it out on Park4night and as it had really good reviews we’d decided to spend a few nights here.
We arrived at Camping Don Quijote just after 8pm, the pitches with hook up were all full so went to the field at the back of the site and set up. At this point we didn’t think we’d need hook up, but once we were set up, A it was pretty cold and B the wifi was awful. A quick walk round the site and we realised if we moved in the morning closer to reception we’d get a great signal and be on hook. We got to bed absolutely shattered but in a very jovial mood as the campsite had a lovely buzz about it!
