Jesus today has been a tough one, but a good one at the same time. So we were up at 05:30 to get the chunnel and to be fair we made pretty good time, we were literally straight on and then straight France bound. I was so so so tired towards the end last night but had no option but to keep driving as had such little time before the chunnel. Anyway never mind we made it here. With the whole debacle we had to change our plans a bit. We headed past Dunkirk where we could find a supermarket so we could could pull and get some sleep. We were all done in. So we stopped at a little Carrefour a little walk away from Bray-Dunes so we pulled the curtain round and all 3 of us got our heads down.
We all woke about 12 ish and still felt like i could have had another few hours. That is one of the challenges with a baby is that you sleep when they sleep and your awake when they are. The Beef had had his fill of naps and wanted to get out and about. The walk to the sea front was nice actually and we got to see a Dunkirk evacuation memorial as Bray Dunes was one of the evacuation beaches. It was very cool, i love being in places like this. We wanted to do a shop in Carrefour before we went to the beach but everything shut at 12 so we couldn’t. We even thought about going to Belgium to get some shopping as we were about 1 mile from the border.
We came back from the beach and had some smoked sausage and pasta whilst i watched football on my 12v TV and firestick. We literally had no idea where we were going to go so whilst eating we looked at park ups to look where to go next and we decided to head towards Ypres as that is where i wanted to go to visit the last post and to visit the Menin gate. So we found ourselves in a place called Hooge Crater pronounced (whoo-g). It is a little park up facing some fields with cows and sheep in. A little further up the round is a war cemetery and a war memorial so as you can imagine i am buzzing and Lisa isn’t.
You might want to check your title,it’s August not April. 🙂
Cheers Trev, sorted!
