We were driving through the desert and i was just looking out of the window and all of sudden i had this feeling that there was so so so much of Morocco that we have not seen or that get seen by people due to only going to the main parts. I am starting to love Morocco, it is some place, it is just so vast and has so many different elements to it that means you would struggle to do it all and see it all in one trip. I am gutted to be leaving on the 23rd March. There is so much i want to try and cram in during the last week or so that we have here.
Todays part of the excursion was the lead up tot he main event. This was travelling from the Bouleman Dades to the desert camp in a place called Merzouga. First stop was the the Todra Gorges and they were just simply stunning, Literally incredible! It is a massive gorge with huge over hanging rocks it is simply breath taking. That is the problem with excursions, you are literally at someones else schedule, so if we wanted to stay longer or swerve some stuff we couldn’t. Ness and Gee and us could have done this excursion ourselves in our campers and gone at our own speed and probably enjoyed it a bit more. It was another days lengthy driving and we did a lot of stopping and starting in the morning which isn’t conducive to trying to settle a teething baby, the previous day we did a big chunk of driving in the morning so he got a big sleep in so he was ok in the afternoon but today he was getting the chance to sleep so was cranky in the afternoon.
To be fair his behaviour had been nothing but exemplarily throughout, we got dropped off at a hotel where we were due to get taken to our camels but the Wee man had a melt down incoming and he was getting due a bottle and we made the decision to stay in the hotel and not go to the desert. The hotel though was fantastic it felt almost like a monastery. People in cloaks walking around but we had the hotel to ourselves and we managed to find a place that served beer so we sat out looking into the desert drinking 33cl cans of Stork and went back and had…….. Tagine for tea in front of an open fire. It was really really nice. The pillows were absolutely rock hard though, which was a shame i like a soft pillow i do. These were like bricks.
