Friday night is always party night here at Atlantica Park in Agadir. As alcohol is not so easily accessible you need to plan your party nights. With it being the Coronation tomorrow as well we need to make sure that we have plenty in, but then not so much that there is some left over and then you end up having a beer when you didn’t need to have one. We are having a little party tomorrow afternoon for the King. I worked until 4pm as usual then it was dash up to the top of the campsite to jump into a taxi to head off to the best place for alcohol in the whole of Agadir which is the “Uniprix” (Uni-Pree). This place has a better selection of beer and it is cheaper than the Carrefour. If i could give anyone 1 piece of advice for Morocco when it comes to shopping it is don’t think that the supermarkets are cheaper than local. It is absolutely not the case. We don’t shop at the supermarket anymore for 90% of our food.
As a reference point a can of Flag Special which is my preferred brew is 21dh for a 500ml can of beer which works out at roughly £1.60. Still cheaper than going out in the UK but no where near as cheap as Spain, France and Portugal. So it is not as simple as “ooh shall we have a beer or a glass of wine tonight” You have to almost plan your nights out for the week. It is a taxi into Agadir and a taxi back so not a thing you could do daily. So i need to make sure i have enough beer for tonight and for the coronation tomorrow. Only planning on having 1 or 2 tonight then having a few tomorrow. Then being good then and trying to lose a bit of weight ready for our month back in blighty.
I am really looking forward to tomorrow and it seems from speaking to friends and family that back in the UK that there is a bit of a buzz back which is nice to hear. With how things have been for the last few years, along with the Jubilee for example it is nice to have an excuse to have a bit of a party and something to bring people together. I like the royal family and all that but Lisa is a bit of a republican and an SNP fan so she is not as enthralled by it all but she knows i enjoy it all so she gets involved none the less. It is a shame that the Beef wont remember it as it doesn’t happen particularly often. There should be about 8 or 9 of us tomorrow for the party so should be good.
