Today started with a slow pack down, the plan today was to nip to the Carrefour in Essaouira as the next site which was south of Agadir was quite rural in its location so we wanted to top up with some stuff like perishables as if we were there for a week or so then we would need veg. It was a long old drive in the schedule today, made even longer by the trip to the supermarket. We decided to take the coastal route, this wasn’t the slowest of the 3 options but was still not the fastest. The total drive was about 4 hours but put us right on the coastal path. And boy was it a road and a half. Twisting and turning all the way pretty much. This was when i got pulled over in Morocco by the police for the first time. It was both me and Gee who got pulled, speeding and overtaking on a road that you cannot over take on. Whoops, we are still awaiting a fine for speeding in France. I understand the importance of being safe but sometimes up the hills lorries are not going 20mph. So they pulled me and Gee over, it was funny because they told me for the 2 infringements it should be 1000dh (£80) but he said he would let me off at 300dh (£24). I gave him 300dh and he gave me 100 back but then seemed to pop the remaining 200dh in his pocket.
Agadir looks an amazing place, it is one of those places that when you are driving through it feels like there is money here. The beach again was stunning and to be fair as we continued driving past Agadir i was getting more and disappointed that we were leaving and heading further down. But the reviews for the place we were heading on Park 4 Night had much better reviews than Atlantica Parc. We were due to go to (La Palmeraie). After a long and arduous drive we got there about 5pm and we checked in and did the usual dance of passport numbers, where we came from and where we were going.
We were really surprised at how quite the place was but we pretty much had the run of the place. So we got out of the vans and had a walk around to find the perfect pitches and get set up. Once that was done we headed to the pool area and to the restaurant to get something to eat. They had already closed but because there was 4 of us they reopened which i thought was really good. You are not getting that in the UK. We had tea and a few reasonably price beverages and headed back to the camp. We sat out for a bit, one of the benefits of rural sites like this is the lack of light pollution, the starts were so so so bright. A really beautiful sky.
