Welcome to todays diary entry! After what feels like weeks of running on fumes, tonight I finally got a proper night back in the motorhome — and it felt bloody lovely. Just slipping back into that rhythm of being “home” again. There’s something so comforting about your own mattress, your own space, and your own weird way of organising things in cupboards that no one else understands.

We had plans tonight, and they were the kind that fill your soul. We went out for dinner with some absolutely top-tier friends — the kind of people you don’t just bump into, but find through shared experiences. We met them on our second trip to Morocco, and even though we don’t see each other all the time, there’s something unspoken between us. You’ve shared sunsets in the desert, tagines under starlit skies, and wild drives down unknown roads. That kind of thing bonds you.

The meal was a proper laugh. Catching up on everyone’s plans, reminiscing about Morocco, talking about the future. It’s funny how travel friends often become some of the most enduring ones — because they’ve seen you sunburnt, tired, happy, flustered, and grinning ear to ear all in the same day.

But in between the socialising and soaking up the last bit of July, I’ve been juggling the usual chaos before a trip — checking lists, prepping stock, tying up work stuff, and mentally trying to wind down even though my head’s still spinning. Tomorrow we’re heading north for a long weekend in Scotland to see Lisa’s family, and I’m honestly buzzing for a change of pace.

I’ve got a million things I could be worrying about — what’s not quite done yet, what could go wrong on the road, what we’ll come back to — but I’m actively trying to let it go. I told myself I’d finish work early tomorrow, and I actually mean it this time. I want us to beat the traffic and get some miles under our belt while it’s still light.

The van’s had its once-over, fridge is stocked, water tanks are sorted, and the vibe is feeling very “let’s get outta here.” A bit of countryside, some family catch-ups, and a few slower mornings are exactly what we both need.

Here’s hoping tomorrow starts the way today ended — calm, grateful, and with a glass of something chilled in hand.
