Welcome to todays diary entry! The Last Sunday of the Season. Today marked another milestone in the year — our final Sunday of the season. It’s a day that always sneaks up on me. One minute we’re in the madness of peak summer with the shop heaving every weekend, and the next, we’re standing here on a calm, almost eerily quiet Sunday, watching the season slowly draw to a close. It’s a strange mix of emotions — part relief, part reflection, and part anticipation for everything that’s about to happen next.

The day itself was quiet — much quieter than the kind of Sundays we’ve been used to over the past few months. There was a steady trickle of customers coming through the doors, mostly people picking up last-minute essentials or asking about storage tips and maintenance before putting their caravans and motorhomes away for the winter. But for the most part, the shop had that unmistakable end-of-season feel — a kind of stillness that’s both welcome and a little surreal.

The upside of a slower day, though, is that it gave us the perfect opportunity to get a real head start on the big tidy-up. We took full advantage of the quiet spells by getting stuck into clearing areas of the shop, reorganising shelves, and boxing up stock that’s going to be moved ahead of next week’s full refit. It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes work that often gets pushed aside when the shop is busy, but today we made serious progress — far more than we’d have managed if it had been a normal, hectic Sunday.

There’s something really satisfying about this stage of the process. It’s like clearing the decks before a new chapter. Every box that’s packed away, every shelf that’s emptied, every display that’s taken down is a step closer to the transformation that’s just around the corner. And with so much happening in the coming weeks — the refit, the NEC prep, the final push before Morocco — getting ahead of ourselves now is going to make a massive difference.

I always find the last Sunday a reflective day too. It’s a marker point — the official beginning of the end of the season. All those long weekends, those manic summer Saturdays, the shows, the trade events, the miles on the road — they all lead to this point. And now, with the shop about to shift gears and the focus turning towards the future, it’s a moment to pause and appreciate how far we’ve come this year.

There’s still a mountain of work ahead — and the next few weeks will be some of the busiest and most challenging of the entire calendar — but today felt like the calm before the storm. It was slower, quieter, and less intense than most Sundays, but it was productive and purposeful. And, more importantly, it gave us a chance to catch our breath before the chaos of next week begins.

As I locked up the shop tonight, I felt that familiar sense of transition. One chapter is closing, another is about to begin. The busy summer season is officially behind us, and now the focus shifts to preparation, transformation, and the final countdown to everything that’s coming next. And with the last Sunday in the books, there’s no turning back — we’re on the home stretch now.
