Welcome to todays diary entry! The Road Is Calling. It’s funny how a date on the calendar can hold so much weight. Today felt like one of those moments where everything slows down just enough for you to really see the bigger picture. For months now, life has been a blur — a never-ending conveyor belt of shows, trade events, shop chaos, and late nights. But today, somewhere in between the usual jobs and the endless to-do list, I paused and realised… we’re almost there. We’re on the home stretch.

It’s hard to describe this part of the year if you’ve never lived it. There’s this emotional cocktail of exhaustion and anticipation that bubbles away under the surface. My body is absolutely done — every part of me is tired, my back aches from months on the road, and mentally I’m running on fumes. But at the same time, my heart is racing. Because now, every decision, every plan, every box ticked is a step closer to that magical moment when we pull away from the shop for the last time this season and start the long, beautiful journey south.

The shift in focus is subtle but powerful. Up until now, it’s been all about surviving the season — pushing through the grind, putting out fires, making sure everything runs smoothly. But from today onwards, the energy changes. Suddenly, I’m not just thinking about stock levels or display stands.

I’m thinking about Moroccan sunsets. I’m thinking about the first glimpse of the Atlantic as we roll into Taghazout. I’m picturing Rory running barefoot on the beach, laughing as the waves chase his feet. I’m thinking about the smell of tagines cooking on a street corner, the chaos of the souks, the calm of those endless desert nights.

The closer we get, the more emotional it feels. Because this isn’t just another trip — it’s the reward for everything we’ve poured into the last six months. All the 12-hour days, the back-to-back weekends, the sleepless nights worrying about stock, the constant juggling act — it’s all for this. For the chance to slow down, to breathe again, to live on our own terms for a little while. And the fact that we get to do it as a family makes it even more special.

There’s something deeply meaningful about raising Rory this way, too. He’s not growing up in a bubble — he’s growing up with the world at his feet. He’s learning that life doesn’t have to follow a straight line, that home can have wheels, and that adventure is something you create for yourself. And that fills me with so much pride.

Today also brought a wave of gratitude that I didn’t expect. Gratitude for how far we’ve come — from dreaming about a life on the road to actually living it. Gratitude for the people who’ve supported us, who cheer us on, who make this possible. Gratitude even for the hard days, because they make the good days feel even sweeter.

And most of all, gratitude for the road ahead. Because no matter how many times we do this, the feeling never gets old. The excitement of the unknown, the joy of rediscovering familiar places, the deep peace that comes from knowing you’re exactly where you’re meant to be — it’s magic.

We still have a mountain to climb before we get there — shows to work, jobs to finish, a shop to run. But the destination is in sight now. And every mile we drive from this point on isn’t just distance covered — it’s a step closer to our next chapter, our next adventure, our next season of memories.

We’ve come so far. And now, the open road is calling louder than ever. Soon, we’ll answer.
