Welcome to todays diary entry! Halfway There. Back in the shop again today and, I’ve got to admit, I feel like I’m properly getting back into the groove. After weeks of trade shows and mad travel, there’s something strangely comforting about the steadiness of the shop. The rhythm feels right — customers drifting in, conversations flowing, sales ticking along, and me feeling more present than I have in a while. It’s a nice reminder that even in the chaos, I do love this side of the job.
A big part of my calmness is knowing that the motorhome is finally getting some TLC this week. Wednesday is a big day — the long-awaited air con fix at last! Lisa has made no secret that she can’t function without it, especially on long drives, so having that sorted before the NEC and before we hit the road to Morocco is huge.
On top of that, the workshop will hopefully put to bed the saga of the elusive power steering fluid leak. It’s been cropping up on MOTs for years and, honestly, it’s been living rent-free in my head all summer. If they can sort that once and for all, I’ll feel like a weight has been lifted.

And that’s not all — A&E Leisure themselves are giving us a hand with a couple of jobs too. We’re having the water heater wired up to electric, which will be a game-changer when we’re on hook-up, and we’re getting two new front tyres fitted. Bit by bit, the motorhome is being transformed into the perfect long-haul machine, ready to carry us south again.

It’s mad to think that when we set off at the start of this month for Vango, I had in my head that we had 2,500 miles ahead of us before we’d roll into Taghazout. That number felt massive, almost like staring up at a mountain. But here we are — officially halfway. We’ll never be further north than we are right now, and every mile we drive from here on out is a mile closer to Morocco. Closer to the waves, the sunsets, the beach walks, and the slower pace of life we crave so much.
It gives me a real lift to think about it. It’s not just a countdown anymore — it’s tangible. We’re inching our way there with every passing week. Six weeks from Agadir, five weeks from the south of Spain, four from the NEC, three from closing up the shop. All these little milestones stacked neatly like dominos, each one taking us closer to where we want to be.
So yes, today was “just” another day in the shop. But beneath it all, I can feel the momentum building. The pieces are falling into place, the jobs are getting ticked off, and the road is opening up in front of us. Halfway there, and no turning back now.
